Kapensky Family
Frederick and Audrey Kapetansky shared a deep-rooted belief that faith and freedom are the cornerstones of a strong and compassionate society. Guided by their Judeo-Christian values and a profound respect for America’s founding principles, they dedicated their lives to supporting causes that protect individual liberty, strengthen families, and nurture moral leadership.
Born in Detroit, Michigan during WWII, both were imbued early on with a sense of patriotism and service. Both were graduated from University of Michigan—Audrey with a BA in Physical Anthropology and Frederick with his Medical Degree. For the next 62 years, Dr. Kapetansky practiced as a glaucoma specialist, pioneering new therapies and teaching generations of residents and medical students to perform at their highest and listen to their patients. Married for 67 years, he saw his life as incomplete without his wife Audrey. Together they settled in Columbus, Ohio where they reared 5 children. During those years, Audrey Kapetansky’s sharp intellect and fearless curiosity led her and her husband to fight the political and moral turmoil around them by championing candidates and causes that defended the US Constitution.
Their philanthropic journey began with the simple belief that ideas have consequences and that the best thing they could give their children would be a preservation of the country which they themselves had been given—to give back to the nation and communities that shaped them. Accordingly, they supported a large number of political candidates and partnered with organizations that defend constitutional rights, promote faith-based education, and encourage civic engagement grounded in traditional values. Whether supporting scholarships for young leaders, contributing to policy centers that advance free enterprise, or volunteering in their local congregation and community, they viewed each effort as part of a greater calling to honor G-d through service and sustain our country and its values long after their passing.
